Spring Has Sprung ....Almost

"Spring Has Sprung ....Almost"  8x81 oil on board

Something I know is there is a shipment of baby trees  coming all the way from Oregon, how do I know?

A lady called Ellen she and her family own a Tree farm. Ellen has been in our lives for quite a while she has a blog that we follow called "growing Gills" she's a photographer and writes about all things in nature and goes along with her lifestyle.

She appreciates everything around her and Spring  I think  is one of her special times, lots going on with the Farm and surrounding areas.

She has the ability to see beauty from her family and where she lives.

She can write poetry so well it can bring you to tears or give you a big smile for the day. We enjoy our long distant friendship and treasure her as something special she even follows our blog!

Ellen this is to go with your afternoon tea I painted this a little while ago as it looks like a fine Spring morning.
Thank you for all you do.

Cheers have a fine day.

I had to show it on the blog, this little painting has been on my mind to do for a while and for some reason gave me a lot of problems but I like the feel of it it's bright and cheerful .

Pine Farms Orchard. after the storm.

Oil on 8x8 board
Pine Farms Orchard. after the storm.
This summer has given us some incredible storms,
one of which made gave a spectacular sky over
the Apple Orchard. I found this picture on Facebook
as I loved the colours and decided to try and paint
it. It's on 8 x 8 board. which for me proved to
be a little difficult painting wet on wet and working
all the array of lights and darks but, the effect
I think came through, maybe better on a bigger board
next time.?

Two Big Beauties

11x14 Oil on board

Two big beauties on Windy Hill Farm near Kettleby Ontario.

I was lucky to get permission to use this portrait of  these Horses the breed is called Percherons they are much bigger in real life, and they seem to be very close as a couple or twins. We visited the area and they were out grazing. When one moved the other followed keeping close to one another the whole time, I believe they are used at local fairs, sleigh rides, weddings etc.

They were more than a little difficult to paint those legs,  there seemed to be bit's of them everywhere hiding in the background !
I decided to not give up and find a way to finish this painting. They are magnificent Animals and they looked happy and content in their field. Perhaps one day we might get close up and give them a treat.

Millie the Orchard Keeper.

"Millie" oil on 6x6 board

Pine farm Orchard and Millie the grounds keeper.

She was 14 years old Millie was a feature of the local apple orchard, she would make her way down the hill where she lived and be looking forward to seeing us Apple pickers drive in for the weekly treat picking or popping in for tea and buying a bag of apples already for us to take home.

As we got out of the car she would toddle towards us for a pat and leave to greet the next car coming in to do the same, she loved to lie in the sun close by to watch people and enjoy her day.

She passed away last week leaving a saddened family and many patrons like us who will miss her greeting and funny little walk.

She did her job so well!

Pine Farm Orchard in Spring By John Bradbury oil on 16x20 canvas
I painted a picture of Millie around Thanksgiving, amongst the pumpkins she fit in well with the colour at the time. So this little canvas will be going to the owners of a well loved pet for happy memories of her time with Pine Farm Orchard.

Thanks Millie for your company!
